Database
SQL Server 2008 Database
At Server Intellect, we understand that most web applications will need to connect to a SQL Server database.
For this reason we give you generous SQL Server databases, SQL Server database space and SQL Server database users.
Server Intellect uses separate web servers, database servers and mail servers to provide enterprise level performance, enterprise level maintenance and a complete service isolated environment.
We do not run SQL Server on the same machine as your website. This allows for faster transactions, more secure data storage and better overall performance.
A new SQL 2008 database is an add on to your hosting package that you can create (or delete) from within the Server Intellect Unity control panel.
Database Space
At Server Intellect, we understand that most Web Applications will need to connect to SQL Server. For this reason we give you generous SQL Server Database Space. SQL Server Database space is separate from your web storage space. You can automatically create and delete SQL Server 2000 Databases right from the Server Intellect control panel.
Database Backup
Server Intellect understands that businesses depend on critical data stored in SQL Server databases. Server Intellect has a history of configuring and maintaining enterprise level platforms and applications and we have developed an enterprise backup policy to accompany these platforms.
All databases on Server Intellect database servers (SQL Server 2000, 2005 and 2008) are locally backed up a minimum of 8 times daily, and once a day offsite to a remote storage location where they are kept in a 7 day rotation.
The local copies are overwritten every three hours. In the event of a hardware or application failure, we will be able to restore from the last backup of a maximum of three hours old, or the last daily offsite backup that occurred. Server Intellect maintains a minimum of seven (7) full daily offsite backups of all databases and a local copy no later than 3 hours old. We can restore a database from as far back as 7 days prior, or as early as up to 3 hours prior.
Enterprise Manager
SQL Server Enterprise Manager is the primary administrative tool for SQL Server and provides an MMC-compliant user interface that allows users to:
- Define groups of SQL Server instances.
- Register individual servers in a group.
- Configure all SQL Server options for each registered server.
- Create and administer all SQL Server databases, objects, logins, users, and permissions in each registered server.
- Define and execute all SQL Server administrative tasks on each registered server.
- Design and test SQL statements, batches, and scripts interactively by invoking SQL Query Analyzer.
- Invoke the various wizards defined for SQL Server.
Management Studio
SQL Server Management Studio is an integrated environment for accessing, configuring, managing, administering, and developing all components of SQL Server. SQL Server Management Studio combines a broad group of graphical tools with a number of rich script editors to provide access to SQL Server to developers and administrators of all skill levels.
SQL Server Management Studio combines the features of Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, and Analysis Manager, included in previous releases of SQL Server, into a single environment. In addition, SQL Server Management Studio works with all components of SQL Server such as Reporting Services, Integration Services, and SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1. Developers get a familiar experience, and database administrators get a single comprehensive utility that combines easy-to-use graphical tools with rich scripting capabilities.
