Why can't I FTP files using Passive mode?

Why can't I FTP files using Passive FTP anymore?

Unfortunately, due to a recent DNS exploit in Windows Server 2003, you will no longer be able to FTP files to a shared server by Passive FTP. By default Internet Explorer 6 and 7 are both set to use Passive FTP. To disable this feature, or activate what is known as "Active" FTP, do the following:

Go to Tools in Internet Explorer.

Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu.

Select Advanced from the tabs at the top of the window.

Scroll down until you find the checkbox for Use Passive FTP. Make sure this box is NOT checked.

Click Apply then OK.
