Server Intellect FTP

Why can't I FTP files using Passive FTP anymore?

Unfortunately, due to a recent DNS exploit in Windows Server 2003, you will no longer be able to FTP files to a shared server by Passive FTP. By default Internet Explorer 6 and 7 are both set to use Passive FTP. To disable this feature, or activate what is known as "Active" FTP, do the following:

Go to Tools in Internet Explorer:

Select Internet Options from the drop-down menu:

Select Advanced from the tabs at the top of the window:

Scroll down until you find the checkbox for "Passive FTP". Make sure this box is NOT checked:

Click Apply then OK.

Congratulations! You have disabled Passive FTP!
