How do I add a FTP User that will only have access to a certain directory?

Once an FTP Account has been created within version 3 of the Helm Control Panel, you can easily set permissions for that user, and specify which directory they are allowed access to.

Log into your HELM control panel.

Click on the Domains icon.

Click on the Domain for which you would like to alter the FTP permissions.

Click on the icon which says FTP Accounts.

SClick on the FTP Account for which you would like to set the permissions.

Currently, the FTP user for the domain in question has access to the root directory for the domain. Let’s change that. Click on the Folder icon next to the FTP Folder field.

You should now see the Select Folder pop-up window come up. Click on the directory within the domain you would like to allow them access to. For the purposes of this article, we will restrict their access to the ‘wwwroot’ directory only.

Once clicked, it will show a list of folders within that directory. Currently, there are none for this domain. Click OK.

You will now see the specified path next to the FTP Folder field. Click Save.

You have now specified the appropriate directory permissions for FTP user account in question. Upon logging into ‘ftp.domain.com’, they will only have access to that specific directory.
