Enabling Parent Paths for any site running on IIS 6.0 can be accomplished very easily.
First, you would log into the server running IIS via Remote Desktop as an Administrator.
Once logged in, you would navigate to ‘Start –> Administrative Tools –> Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.‘ This will open the IIS interface.
Inside IIS, click the plus sign next to ‘Web Sites‘ to expand the folder and display all sites running on the server.
When you locate the website you wish to enable Parent Paths for, right-click on it and choose ‘Properties‘.
Within the Properties window, click on the ‘Home Directory‘ tab, and then click the button which says ‘Configuration‘.
By default, the Application Configuration window will display a list of all common web file extensions and the DLL files used to process them. Click on the tab at the top of the window which says ‘Options‘.
Here, you will find an option for ‘Enable Parent Paths‘. Click the box to check it, and then OK three times to apply the settings.
Parent Paths will now function properly.
