How to Add a Domain to SmarterMail

First you will need to login to your SmarterMail server with your “Admin” account. Please login to the Unity Customer Portal in order to retrieve this information.

Step 1

Once you have logged in click “Manage“.

In the left pane click “All Domains“.

Step 2

After the right pane has loaded click “New“.


Step 3

You may now fill out the required information to add your domain such as:

  • Name
  • IP address
  • Folder Path
  • Mailing List Username
  • Domain Administrator
  • Domain Administrator Password

Name – This is your fully qualified domain name (FQDN). e.g.

IP Address – This is the IP address you want to assign the site to send mail from.

Mailing List Username – This is the username used to send mailing list to users. Default is STSERV.

Domain Administrator – This is the administrator for the domain and will have more privileges then the average user. This user also has access to domain reports regarding space usage.

Domain Administrator – The password for the Domain Administrator.


Step 4

After completing the options tab click the “technical” tab to make sure that your port settings are correct. The defaults should work with no issues.

Make sure SMTP authentication is checked.
