How to Sync SmarterMail with the iPhone Using CardDAV and CalDAV

NOTE: for ease of configuration on iPhone/Mac the system administrator should setup a CalDAV and CardDAV SRV DNS record. This is what makes the iPhone/Mac auto discover settings.

CardDAV for iPhone

  1. Open the settings application.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Other as account type.
  5. Select Add CardDAV account.
  6. For server, type for example: mail.yourdomain.com
  7. Enter your full e-mail address for User Name, and then type your password.
  8. Select Next.
  9. The mail server does not support SSL so a warning will be displayed. Just select Continue.
  10. If the iPhone is unable to verify the account information, perform the following:
  11. Select OK.
  12. Select advanced settings.
  13. Make sure Use SSL is set to OFF.
  14. Change port to 80.
  15. Account URL should be: http://mail.yourdomain.com:80/WebDAV/
  16. Go back to account information and hit Save.
  17. Your calendar will now be visible in the Calendar application

CalDAV for iPhone

  1. Open the settings application.
  2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Select Add Account.
  4. Select Other as account type.
  5. Select Add CalDAV account.
  6. For server, type for example: mail.yourdomain.com
